FORMER World Nineball Pool champion Mika Immonen has passed away aged 52.

He had been suffering from a lengthy cancer battle.

Tributes have poured in for Immonen, who became a legend on the pool circuit.

The Iceman became the only Finnish star to win the World Nineball Championship in 2001.

And he won back-to-back US Open Pool Championship titles in 2008 and 2009.

Immonen established himself as a pool icon with his appearances at the Mosconi Cup.

He represented Team Europe on 15 occasions - the second most of any European.

Four of those tournaments ended in a European win, with Immonen named MVP for his performance in the 2008 Mosconi Cup.

He was also named player of the decade for the 2000s.

But his success continued beyond that point and in 2012 he lifted the World Cup for
