The Deen Dayal Upadhyay District Hospital has experienced a 30 per cent drop in surgeries over the past two months due to a surgeon’s unavoidable absence. The hospital’s Principal Medical Superintendent (PMS) Dr Manu Jain stated that the hospital currently has three positions for surgeons. Of these, one is filled by a permanent surgeon, another is occupied by a surgeon on attachment, while the third position remains vacant. He said that the permanent surgeon has been either absent or on leave for a few days due to varied issues, which has significantly impacted the hospital’s surgical operations for the past two months.
