OAKLAND — Five years after his release from prison for voluntary manslaughter, a local resident has been arrested and charged in federal court with possessing a gun while allegedly selling crack cocaine, court records show.

The indictment against 46-year-old Jermaine Godfrey stems from a January bust where plainclothes Oakland officers allegedly observed Godfrey and his brother, Corntae Godfrey, handling bindles of crack and a firearm, prosecutors said. Corntae Godfrey is facing charges in Alameda County Superior Court.
Jermaine Godfrey was arrested in 2015, alongside 32-year-old Dwight Bradford, in the July 10, 2014, killing of 18-year-old Anaya Dominguez. In 2020, the two accepted plea deals with Godfrey receiving a six-year prison term — and being released from jail
