LITTLE RIVER ACADEMY, Texas (FOX 44) - An Academy Independent School District is on administrative leave amid allegations of sexual assault of a student.

The Bell County Sheriff’s Office was notified Sunday about the alleged assault. The alleged perpetrator is an employee of the Academy Independent School District.

The Sheriff's Office says the investigation into the reported crime is being handled by its Criminal Investigations Division. Academy ISD says it takes all allegations of this nature very seriously and is fully cooperating with law enforcement.

The district has placed the employee who is support staff (non-educator/coach) on administrative leave, where they will remain pending the outcome of the investigation.

This matter remains under active investigation.
