Last week, U.S. President Donald Trump presented a 21 point pathway for ending the Gaza War and creating a Palestinian state.

Shortly afterward, President of the Palestinian Authority Mahmoud Abbas announced his government wants “a modern and democratic State that abides by international law, the rule of law and multilateralism and the peaceful transition of power.” He said the Palestinian Authority would work with the U.S. and partners to implement the peace plan, declaring he is “ready to bear full responsibility for governance and security,” absent of Hamas which must hand over its weapons to the Palestinian National Authority.
