US President Donald Trump on Tuesday said it would be an “insult” to the United States if he is not awarded the Nobel Peace Prize, arguing that his efforts in resolving global conflicts have gone unrecognised.
Speaking at an event with senior US military officers in Quantico, Virginia, Trump downplayed any expectation of receiving the honour but suggested that overlooking him would reflect poorly on the country.
“Will you get the Nobel Prize? Absolutely not. They’ll give it to some guy that didn’t do a damn thing,” AFP quoted him as saying. “It’d be a big insult to our country,” he added.
