BISMARCK, N.D. (KFYR) - After the Senate could not pass a continuing resolution to temporarily fund the federal government Tuesday evening , a government shutdown is imminent.
A House-passed stopgap funding bill to keep the government open through Nov. 21 has failed in the Senate.
The 55-45 vote fell short of the 60 needed to pass, and all but assures the government will shut down at midnight.
Earlier, the Senate also rejected a Democratic alternative bill that would have averted a shutdown.
The 47-53 vote along party lines also failed to meet the 60-vote threshold needed to pass.
North Dakota representatives are reacting to the imminent shutdown.
