The Save-On-Foods Oceanside Generals split a pair of weekend Vancouver Island Junior Hockey League contests.
On Saturday (Sept. 27), before nearly 500 home fans at Oceanside Place, the Generals beat the Lake Cowichan Kraken 3-1. The next night in Port Alberni, the Gens dropped a 3-2 decision to the host Bombers.
A third period surge enabled the Generals to earn a come-from-behind victory over the Kraken. First star Ryder Bradford scored the first Oceanside goal in the third period on a one-timer from the slot, set up Braeyen Newans for his snap shot marker that was the eventual game-winner, and assisted on Ryken Lay’s empty-netter to lead the way for the Generals, with netminder Andreas Bylerius stopping 31 shots for the win in net to be named second star of the contest.
