Schenectady gets state funding for public Wi

SCHENECTADY — Schenectady’s is getting a $1.6 million boost, with the city network one of four programs across the state to receive funding as part of New York’s Connectivity Innovations initiative.

The state grant will allow Schenectady to establish citywide open access Wi-Fi to reduce network strain and provide internet access for 4,000 low- and moderate-income residents.
