FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (KNWA/FOX24) — The League of Women Voters filed a lawsuit against Secretary of State Cole Jester, with a preliminary hearing being held on September 30 at the John Paul Hammerschmidt Federal Building.

Along with the Secretary of State, Attorney General Tim Griffin is listed as an intervenor defendant in the lawsuit. One lead attorney on the case is Noah Watson.

The lawsuit consists of 11 challenges to laws the League claims directly violate the First Amendment right. In addition, two of those are being challenged for vagueness in the wording of the acts.

The laws being challenged as violations of the First Amendment are Act 602, Act 218, Act 240, Act 274, Act 236. While Acts 240 and 274 are also being challenged on counts of vagueness.
