NIXA, Mo. — City leaders broke ground Tuesday on a new police station that officials say will improve public safety in the growing community.

The new facility, located on North Leeann Drive, was made possible by a voter-approved sales tax increase in 2023.

“This new facility represents our shared commitment to the men and women who serve us every single day and protect all of us,” city officials said during the ceremony.

Mayor Jarad Giddens said the project marks the beginning of continued growth for Nixa.

“It makes the strategic investments like this one here today makes us really plan for the future and help out future needs,” Giddens said.

Nixa Police Chief Joe Campbell said the department has outgrown its current space.
