GREENVILLE, Texas — As of 7 p.m. Tuesday, Hunt Regional Healthcare has officially shut down its freestanding emergency rooms in Commerce and Quinlan, leaving Greenville as the only full-service ER in Hunt County.
The Hunt Memorial Hospital District Board voted last week to close both facilities, citing annual losses exceeding $15 million. The decision comes as Hunt County continues to grow, but hospital leaders say the money simply isn’t there to keep multiple emergency sites running.
“Hunt Regional Healthcare struggled with its revenue cycle for approximately 18 months following an electronic health record conversion…inflation on labor, supplies, drugs, and purchased services has skyrocketed past reimbursement improvements for the past four years,” said Lee Boles, CEO of Hunt Regional
