OCONEE COUNTY, S.C. (WSPA) - Tensions are high in Oconee County after a proposed development by East Shore South LLC was rejected by county council.

The conflict between developer Mark Hart and council member Matthew Durham intensified after Durham took to social media to share a letter he received from Hart.

"He threatened us," Durham explained. "I feel like the public needed to know, you know, what's going on."

Hart's proposal, which included adding residential housing and a commercial district to 600 acres of land, was deemed too dense for the area according to county standards.

"I don't think a reasonable business person would view our letter as a threat," Hart told 7NEWS. "[It's] mostly residential housing, starting in and around Newry, as a phase one. And in the course of 20 year
