NORTHAMPTON, Mass. (WWLP) - Yom Kippur, the holiest day in the Jewish calendar, begins at sundown on Wednesday, with the Chabad of Northampton hosting a series of events to mark the occasion.

The observance of Yom Kippur, known as the Day of Atonement, will continue until after nightfall on Thursday.

It is a significant part of the Jewish high holiday season, which takes place every fall. The Chabad of Northampton will commence its services with a formal opening prayer at 6:30 PM.
