Springfield Gardens banned from owning, managing property in Massachusetts

SPRINGFIELD — Springfield Gardens, an embattled city landlord, is banned from owning and managing rental properties in Massachusetts, a Suffolk County judge has ordered.

Earlier this month, the state Attorney General’s Office and the landlord agreed to a consent settlement that said the property managers owe Massachusetts $2.5 million and must forgive $7.5 million in alleged unpaid rent for affected residents, a statement from the AG’s office said.
