Ethan Laird has been ruled out for ‘a few months’ with a hamstring injury in a bitter blow to Birmingham City.

The right-back limped off during the 3-0 defeat to Coventry City on Saturday after overstretching whilst taking a shot at goal.

Scans have revealed that Laird has suffered significant damage to his hamstring and will miss a chunk of Blues’ season.

Manager Chris Davies said: “Ethan is unfortunately an injury that will take him some time, a few months, which is a real blow. A real blow to him and us.

“He’s had it assessed and looked at, and unfortunately it was as bad as we feared it would be. We won’t see him for a few months.”

The prognosis is better on German striker Marvin Ducksch who sustained a leg injury in the warm up at Coventry.
