The federal government is set to shut down at midnight tonight, after the Republican funding bill failed by a vote of 55-45, barring further actions to be made.
After the voting against the the Republican funding bill, Senator Chris Coons issued the following statement:
“Tonight’s fight is about.... the refusal of the Republicans who control Congress and the White House to change direction on the rising health care costs of all Americans," says Coons. "Once again, Republicans have failed to secure the votes needed to fund the government."
The immediate changes will be felt specifically by employees of the federal government.
