LOUISVILLE, Ky. — House GOP Rep. James Comer and Democratic Rep. Morgan McGarvey joined forces in a letter opposing federally-proposed limits on THC found in hemp-derived products.

Rep. Andy Barr and Thomas Massie—also from Kentucky—signed on, leaving out Rep. Brett Guthrie and Hal Rogers.

It follows a rift between Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul and Mitch McConnell over hemp regulations. Paul successfully blocked McConnell's senate-chamber attempt at lowering THC levels in end products made from hemp like CBD or Delta-8.

Consumers sometimes use either or both for medical reasons like treating pain or as a sleep aid. CBD usually doesn't contain enough THC to intoxicate, but Delta-8 commonly does. Its effects are similar to consuming cannabis.
