Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar on Tuesday ruled out any move by the state government to impose a "congestion tax" in Bengaluru, amid reports that the measure was being considered to address the city’s growing traffic problems.
Speaking to India Today, Shivakumar, who also oversees Bengaluru Development, said the state has no such plan and any discussion on the matter may be part of the Centre’s proposals.
“There are reports, but it is left to companies. We will not insist on that. Right now, there are no plans like that,” he said.
