As NCHSAA football conference play in Fayetteville begins this week, it's time to highlight the best defenders in the area with a 910Preps Midseason Defensive Player of the Year poll chosen by the fans.

Here are 14 Midseason Defensive Player of the Year nominees to choose from.

John Archer, Seventy-First — Archer, the junior 4-star recruit, has only 27 tackles, but his ability to get in the backfield has been effective and resulted in 11 tackles for loss so far on the season.

Dontario Austin, Trinity Christian — Austin has totaled 24 tackles in four contests, including a sack.

Ahmad Carmichael, South View — Carmichael is tied for first place in interceptions in the county with three on the seas
