WINDSOR LOCKS, Conn. (WFSB) - Tens of thousands of federal employees were furloughed Wednesday after lawmakers failed to reach a deal to keep the government funded.
At Bradley International Airport, TSA agents and air traffic controllers continued to show up, but are currently working without pay.
TSA officials are warning travelers to expect longer lines at security checkpoints due to potential staffing shortages.
Travelers are being urged to arrive early and monitor their flight status.
Despite the shutdown, essential federal employees, including members of the military, the FBI, CIA, Department of Homeland Security, and air traffic personnel, are still required to work.
However, they will not receive paychecks until the government resumes operations.
