Bravo. Yes, tackling crime needs a different tack ( Editorial , 1/10). Harsher penalties are not the answer to the problem. We need to look at the causes of this increasing problem and work on a multi–faceted approach of prevention strategies across society involving agencies in health, education and social welfare.
