Derek McInnes has Hearts sitting proudly at the top of the table but insists “it is stupid” and far too early be labelling his side as possible title contenders. ‌

McInnes, speaking ahead of Sunday's huge Edinburgh derby, said: “Our fight is with ourselves - it is stupid to say we are in a title fight at the minute. “We are not getting drawn into that at the minute.” ‌

The experienced boss is too long in the tooth to come out and shout from the rooftops. ‌

Too many managers and clubs have done it in the past only to land flat on their face.

That is why McInnes has publicly slapped down any possible title challenge.
