(WHTM)-- Pennsylvania lawmakers took to social media to react to the government shutdown that occurred at Midnight on Wednesday.
Pennsylvania and the nation face uncharted territory as lawmakers in Washington failed to come to an agreement to keep government programs operating before the Midnight deadline. Pennsylvania has also failed to reach a budget agreement, three months after the deadline.
Pennsylvania lawmakers took to social media to express their reactions to the shutdown.
U.S. Senator John Fetterman (D-PA), who was one of two Democrats to vote with Republicans, posted on X, saying:
It’s a sad day for our nation. Our government shuts down at midnight. I voted AYE to extend ACA tax credits because I support them—but I won’t vote for the chaos of shuttering our government. My vo
