HUTCHINSON ISLAND, Ga. (WSAV) — Big changes are underway along the Savannah River. Crews have started work on a new luxury hotel next to the Convention Center, with a ceremonial groundbreaking set for this month.

With nearly $400 million in financing secured, leaders say this project marks a new era for Savannah's event industry. Construction is already underway on the new 18-story Signia by Hilton Hotel. When it opens in 2028, visitors to the Convention Center will be able to walk just steps away to Savannah's newest luxury hotel.
