Even a last-gasp win at Livingston wasn’t enough to ease the pressure on Russell Martin at the weekend. ‌

The goal celebrations were quickly replaced by chants calling for the Rangers manager’s head but it was a bit beyond the pale for some supporters. ‌

Chris Weir, Kilsyth , said: “I am disgusted at the abuse Russell is getting from a personal point of view. It is verging on bullying from the fans. The anger should be directed at Patrick Stewart as he is escaping it all. ‌

“Other managers will look at this and think twice about wanting to come due to the toxicity of the fans. The 'fans' don’t know the meaning of the word patience. The shortlist of managers in the summer showed where we are - largely due to the toxicity from the stands.”
