Young Innovators Shine on Hurun India Rich List 2025

The M3M Hurun India Rich List 2025 has unveiled its latest entries, highlighting the remarkable achievements of young entrepreneurs in the tech industry. Among them is Aravind Srinivas, the 31-year-old co-founder of Perplexity AI, who has made history as India’s youngest billionaire with a net worth of ₹21,190 crore. His company, which offers an AI-powered search engine, is rapidly emerging as a competitor to established giants like Google and OpenAI’s ChatGPT.

Srinivas, originally from Chennai, founded Perplexity in 2022 alongside Denis Yarats, Johnny Ho, and Andy Konwinski. The platform distinguishes itself by providing conversational answers and clear citations, moving away from traditional link-based search results. This innovative approach has attracted a growing user base, with over 30 million active users and 780 million monthly queries. By July 2025, Perplexity achieved a valuation of $18 billion, bolstered by a strategic partnership with Bharti Airtel that granted free access to 360 million Indian users.

In addition to Srinivas, the list features Kaivalya Vohra, co-founder of the quick commerce startup Zepto, who at just 22 years old has a net worth of ₹4,480 crore. Vohra, along with his partner Aadit Palicha, launched Zepto during the COVID-19 pandemic, focusing on rapid grocery deliveries. Their success has positioned Zepto as a strong player in the competitive online delivery market, challenging established names like Swiggy and BigBasket.

The Hurun report indicates a significant shift in India’s wealth landscape, with a record 358 billionaires now in the country. The collective wealth of these billionaires amounts to ₹167 lakh crore, nearly half of India’s GDP. Notably, 66% of the list comprises self-made individuals, reflecting a trend of entrepreneurship and innovation.

Mukesh Ambani retains his title as India’s richest person, with a fortune of ₹9.55 lakh crore, followed by Gautam Adani at ₹8.15 lakh crore. Roshni Nadar Malhotra has made headlines as the richest woman in India, entering the top three with a net worth of ₹2.84 lakh crore.

The emergence of young billionaires like Srinivas and Vohra underscores the rapid evolution of India’s economy, driven by technology and innovation. Their stories inspire a new generation of entrepreneurs aiming to make their mark in the global market.
