A yellow weather warning has been issued for Edinburgh as high winds are set to batter the capital.

The weather warning comes into force from 6pm on Friday October 3 and is set to last until 11.59pm On Saturday October 4.

It comes as Storm Amy swoops through the UK with Met Office forecasters warning Edinburgh locals to expect damage to buildings, power cuts and road and bridges to close.

Injuries and 'danger to life' due to flying debris is also possible.

Guidance from the Met Office reads: "Storm Amy is likely lead to disruption during Friday and Saturday.

"Some damage to buildings, such as tiles blown from roofs, could happen. Power cuts may occur, with the potential to affect other services, such as mobile phone coverage
