Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) chief Vijay’s video statement on the Karur stampede has drawn widespread criticism, including from VCK president Thol Thirumavalavan, an ally of the DMK. The tragic incident claimed the lives of 41 people, including nine children, who had gathered to see Vijay at the TVK rally. However, the actor-politician’s statement did not include an apology or words of condolence.

Questioning Vijay’s silence for two days since the tragedy, Thirumavalavan said that the actor-politician was trying to divert the issue.

“Why didn't Vijay express condolences..? It doesn't seem like he expressed pain.. From the first day to this day, Vijay has only had a Provocative approach,” he said in a post on X.
