: Assam Director General of Police (DGP) Harmeet Singh on Wednesday appealed for public trust in the police, assuring that investigators are working “their heart out” to bring the Zubeen Garg death case to a conclusive end.
“Investigation is a legal process. If a scientific investigation is not done, it will not stand in court. Let us do our work professionally and legally. Do not sensationalise—because we too have lost our heart,” Singh told reporters.
The DGP’s remarks came hours after a 13-day manhunt ended with the arrest of prime accused Shyamkanu Mahanta, chief organiser of the Northeast Festival, and Siddhartha Sharma, manager of the late singer. The arrests were made with assistance from the Singapore police, while Sharma was nabbed in Rajasthan.
