BLACKSBURG, Va. (WFXR)- The Virginia Tech Board of Visitors has approved a budget plan in an effort to reset the university's athletics program in order to compete successfully with other programs in the Atlantic Coast Conference.

According to the press release, the additional $229 million dollar investment would be over a four-year period. The new funding would come from "both internal and external sources."

“It has never been clearer that the future of Hokie Athletics will depend on the institutional commitment to compete, in partnership with our alumni and supporters,” Virginia Tech President Tim Sands said. “Today, we are stepping up to compete, and we ask our loyal fans and generous donors to step forward with us.”
