LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- Los Angeles City Councilman Curren Price was sent to the hospital Wednesday morning after suffering a "health-related incident" during a city event, his office said in a statement.

Price, 74, was at the groundbreaking ceremony for the new L.A. Convention Center expansion project when the incident occurred.

He was seen being treated by paramedics in an ambulance for at least 10 minutes.

" [ Price ] will undergo evaluation to determine what factors may have contributed to it," read the statement from his office. "At this time, no further information is available, and it is too early to make any determinations."

No further information was released.

Price has represented the Ninth District, which includes most of South Los Angeles and Exposition Park, since 2013
