A Glasgow councillor whose brothers and parents passed away from chest and breathing problems has welcomed the introduction of Awaab’s Law.

Bailie Ann Jenkins shared how she witnessed the “heartbreaking loss” of her mum, dad and two brothers who passed away from either lung cancer or COPD (Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease) at a meeting yesterday.

The family were raised in old tenement housing stock where damp and mould were a "constant presence."

Bailie Jenkins said: “I am proud as a Labour councillor that my colleagues have stood up for Awaab’s Law. I have seen first hand the devastating consequences of damp and mould in homes.
