BOULDER, Colo. (AP) — The Big 12 has seen a surge in Australian punters, with nine of the conference's top 15 hailing from Down Under. The influx is partly due to Australian rules football, which involves some skills similar to punting. Prokick Australia, a development program, helps prepare Aussie punters for American football. The transition to American football takes time. The league’s top Aussies include Damon Greaves of Colorado, Finn Lappin of Kansas, Liam Dougherty of Houston, Max Fletcher of Cincinnati, Orion Phillips of Utah, Jack Burgess of Texas Tech, Sam Vander Haar of BYU, of Oliver Straw of West Virginia and Ethan Craw of TCU. Combined, the Australian contingent averages 44.1 yards per punt this season.
