MIDDLE HOPE – A Town of Newburgh woman who was riding a garden tractor had to be rescued by Middle Hope firefighters when the machine got away from her and crashed under a deck.
The woman, whose name was not made public, was pinned on the mower for some 15 minutes until a neighbor heard her calling for help and called 911.
The patient was unable to feel or move her leg or foot when emergency services arrived.
First responders cut a supporting post and raised the deck using airbags so they could rescue the woman who was transported by Town of Newburgh Emergency Medical Services to Montefiore St. Luke’s Cornwall Hospital.
The mishap occurred around 12:30 p.m. on Sunday, September 28.
