Senior academician Kamal R Gavai has issued a clarification regarding an RSS centenary programme scheduled for October 5, after a letter related to the event circulated on social media and in local newspapers sparked controversy. She released another letter addressing the matter to the media.

However, the earlier letter turned out to be fake, and Dr Kamal Gavai has now issued a statement to the media clarifying that it was released by someone else, while also confirming that she will not be attending the event owing to health reasons.

In her statement, Kamaltai Gavai said the letter claiming she would not attend the RSS event due to her ideology was likely written by a well-wisher of her family. While welcoming everyone with goodwill and extending friendship to all, she expressed concern
