JEROME, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) — Starting Oct. 1, weapons are prohibited in the Jerome County Courthouse.
The decision came after a series of meetings between the Jerome Board of County Commissioners and the Jerome County Sheriff’s Office.
“He’s been pushing it pretty well. We’ve taken it seriously about getting this particular building in line with our judicial complex over there on Main Street,” Chairman Ben Crouch said.
Crouch added that the courthouse will receive additional security protocols.
“Everybody’s gonna have to enter in the East side of the building. And you won’t be able to enter on the West side anymore. You’ll have to go through a magnetometer, an X-ray machine just like you do over at the judicial complex,” Crouch said.
The county had already budgeted for the new security
