Sean Sherman's heralded Owamni restaurant is moving.
The James Beard-winning eatery operated by the North American Traditional Indigenous Food Systems (NATIFS) nonprofit will relocate into the restaurant space on the main floor of the Guthrie Theater in the spring of 2026.
"We couldn’t be more excited to make Owamni’s stage — a restaurant that showcases Indigenous cuisine — part of the Guthrie stages," Sherman says. "The space at the Guthrie doubles the size of our current location and together we will continue to reconnect people with traditional Indigenous food practices and support Native cultural revitalization and community well-being."
The restaurant opened to national praise in 2021, located along the Mississippi River in Minneapolis' Mill District.
