RENO, Nev. (KOLO) - Yom Kippur is celebrated as the most solemn Jewish holiday, the “Day of Atonement,” to repent for sins, ask for forgiveness from God and others, and reflect on the year’s actions. It concludes the High Holy Days , which begin with Rosh Hashanah (the Jewish New Year), and involves a 25-hour fast, prayer, and abstaining from other earthly pleasures to facilitate spiritual focus.
