The Kentucky college student was in Texas last week practicing for an upcoming fishing tournament when he was reported missing.

His body was later found in a lake after an intense search.

Bluegrass Kayak Anglers announced a nationwide benefit tournament they’ve started in his honor.

“You have to spend time on the water in order to get better,” said Kyler Branaum the Tournament Director of Bluegrass Kayak Anglers.

Branaum is currently in Tennessee practicing for a Tennessee Bass Nation championship tournament.
