It’s not often that an obituary goes viral. But one Massachusetts woman made sure hers would.
Before she passed away from ALS, Framingham resident Linda Murphy wrote her own obituary. It’s filled with humor, it’s filled with honesty and it’s filled with advice for the rest of us.
Her daughter spoke with NBC Boston, sharing why her mother’s words are touching people all over the world.
Murphy didn’t just write an obituary. She wrote a love letter — to life, to her family and to joy itself.
“Well, if you are reading this obituary, it looks like I am dead,” she wrote. “WOW, it actually happened … I died of FOMO due to complications of Bulbar ALS.”
It was Murphy’s way of meeting death with the same humor and grace that she brought to her life.
She died last week at just 60 years old.
“W
