Catalina "Xóchitl" Santiago has been ordered to be released from Immigration and Customs Enforcement custody in a ruling by U.S. District Judge Kathleen Cardone.

The judge ruled on Wednesday, Oct. 1, that U.S. government attorneys "did not present any evidence indicating that Santiago has endangered anyone during her twenty years at liberty, including her thirteen years under DACA. Tellingly, they have failed to even articulate an individualized reason for which she should be detained," in court documents .

Cardone heard a habeas petition on Sept. 23, challenging the ongoing detention of Santiago, a Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals recipient, who has been held in ICE detention since Aug. 3.
