Officials say they do not believe there is “any present risk to the health and well-being of the students of the Manchester School District” following reports of cockroaches at two city schools.
School officials confirmed this week treatment programs are underway at Weston Elementary School, following a recent sighting of a cockroach.
That incident follows similar reports of cockroaches at Hillside Middle School as classes got underway last month.
“No one is taking this lightly,” said Superintendent of Schools Jennifer Chmiel.
Letters have been sent home to parents of students at both schools, as well as families across the school district – detailing efforts underway to combat the critters.
Manchester schools use an Integrated Pest Management Program (IPM) to manage reports of pests,
