The Aussie skipper was in a hurry.

A six-loaded innings from captain Mitch Marsh has steered Australia over New Zealand in the first Twenty20 at Bay Oval on Wednesday night.

Marsh crunched nine fours and launched five sixes on his way to a matchwinning 85 from just 43 deliveries.

He was well supported by Travis Head (31 off 18) and Matt Short (29 off 18) before falling 25 runs shy of New Zealand’s 6-181.

Tim David, who was not out as Australia passed New Zealand four wickets down in the 17th over, could have potentially helped Marsh to a deserved century.

David turned Marsh down for a run only for him to be dismissed the very next ball.

The Aussies earlier put the Kiwis into bat at the toss and undid their sensational start by fumbling four catches and a stumping opportunity.
