KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- A former educator in the Olathe School District was sentenced to prison Wednesday for a child sex crime committed in September 2023.

According to Johnson County court records, Jason Barrett is facing 41 months in the Kansas Department of Corrections after being found guilty of one count of aggravated indecent liberties with a child.

He was originally facing two felonies, including furnishing alcohol to a minor. However, that charge was dropped after he entered a guilty plea back in August.

Previous reporting states that Barrett worked as a special education paraprofessional with the Olathe School District on two separate occasions. The first time was between 2003 and 2005, and the second time was between August 2009 and May 2023, the school district told FOX4.
