PORTLAND Ore. (KPTV) - Portland Mayor Keith Wilson directed the city transportation bureau to pause on implementing new evening pay-to-park hours on Wednesday, the city announced.

In August, the Portland Bureau of Transportation announced that metered hours would expand from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. downtown on all days, starting in September.

On Wednesday, the city said that enforcement hours would switch back to ending at 7 p.m. on Oct. 15. The city said the pause is to help support businesses and events in the city core “during this critical time during the city’s recovery from the pandemic.”

The city said that over the next few months, PBOT will gather parking data and work with parking committees and other city stakeholders to figure out how to best support the city’s economic recovery,
