WASHINGTON, D.C. (WSIL) -- The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) has announced its commitment to maintaining services during a government shutdown.
The VA estimates 97 percent of its employees will continue to work during a shutdown, according to the VA Human Capital Contingency Plan.
Pete Kasperowicz, Press Secretary with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, stated the "VA is committed to providing quality, consistent care and services to Veterans, families, Caregivers, and Survivors."
The VA emphasized that their mission allows no exception to this standard, even when operations are limited by the absence of appropriations.
