The Pac-12 can continue its poaching fees lawsuit against the Mountain West, according to the latest ruling from a federal judge.

U.S. Magistrate Judge Susan van Keulen denied the Mountain West’s motion to dismiss the case on Tuesday.

The backstory: Last year, the Pac-12 filed a lawsuit against the Mountain West over the $55 million in poaching fees that the Mountain West said outgoing members had to pay. • The poaching fees clause was part of the scheduling agreement the Pac-12 – which consisted only of Oregon State and Washington State – signed with the Mountain West for the 2024 football season. • Under the poaching fees clause, the Mountain West would be owed $10 million for the first team that left, with a $500,000 increase for each subsequent team.
