In October 2017, flames from the Tubbs Fire tore through Santa Rosa, destroying thousands of homes and claiming dozens of lives. Families had only moments to flee. One mother went into labor as the fire closed in. Others faced the devastating decision of whether to rebuild or leave behind everything they’d known.

Weathering the Storm: The Tubbs Fire is the latest installment in Very Local’s original documentary series. The film captures the chaos of one of California’s most destructive wildfires and the strength of the people who lived through it.

The documentary also features insights from Tamara Berg , meteorologist at KCRA , and Gabrielle Lurie , photojournalist with the San Francisco Chronicle , who both witnessed and documented the fire’s aftermath.
