GRAND ISLAND, Neb. (KSNB) - A Grand Island man accused of stalking a 14-year-old girl and her mother will be tested for mental fitness to stand trial.

Floyd Leiser, 88, is charged with two counts of stalking and three counts of child enticement.

Prosecutors charged Leiser after a woman told police that he tried to get her 14-year-old daughter to get into his pickup at Pier Park in June. Police said Leiser had done the same thing two months earlier.

At a hearing Tuesday, Leiser’s public defender requested a mental competency exam. The judge granted the request and ordered that Leiser be examined by an expert from the Lincoln Regional Center. As of Wednesday afternoon, no further hearing on the competency evaluation had been scheduled.
